Mia Champion
Mia Champion has more than 20 years of experience in Technology, Healthcare & Life Sciences. Her areas of expertise include genomics research and optimization of cloud-computing architectures tailored for end-to-end advanced analytics at scale. Dr. Champion has experience building solutions as well as managing product development and Go-To-Market releases for biomedical informatics products, machine learning applications and solutions providing advanced analysis of multi-modal data sources.
During her tenure at Amazon Web Services, Dr. Champion served in a variety of leadership roles dedicated to product, program and technical business development as well as serving as a leading Data Scientist for the AWS Machine Learning Solutions Lab Consultant Team. She served as a lead product manager overseeing several Amazon Health AI products including Amazon HealthLake, Amazon Genomics CLI, and Amazon Omics. Mia Champion has also been a Principal Investigator and has performed bioinformatics research in the areas of Cancer and infectious diseases at the Mayo Clinic, ASU and the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard.
Dr. Champion is an Advisory Board Member of the Data Collaboration Alliance. She has been a startup founder and is also the founder and managing director of Unalomia, a consulting company dedicated to supporting the startup and angel investor communities. As an active Limited Partner and member of investment groups, Mia conducts due diligence to help guide investment decisions in biomedical technologies and areas related to cloud-computing infrastructure and services.
Dr. Champion holds a Ph.D. in genomics from University of California-Davis. She has published and presented on genetics, genomics, bioinformatics, and aspects of translational clinical applications in collaboration with clinical researchers.
